University Inn is a new hotel that exists among many famous hotels in Malang. The University Inn was built by PT. Parwa Nusantara Teknologi, with collaboration by The Muhammadiyah Fundation in 2004. The University Inn is a hotel with the different touch. This hotel offers the combination of traditional architecture and modern space. It also gives the guest “home away from home” service to make the guest feel comfortable to stay at the hotel.
The writer was positioned as receptionist staff at the University Inn. In this case the writer as the hotel front liner should be able to give the best service and also promote the hotel facilities to the guest. The writer realized that as a new hotel, University Inn need promotion strategy to introduce the hotel. The strategy that chose by University Inn is Out-reach Promotion and In-reach Promotion. This promotion is also to increase the guest arrival. The writer also realized that work in front office division need hard work and team work. The writer also has great experience as the front office staff.
The writer suggests that University Inn should recruit more employees to increase the guest service. The writer also suggests that University Inn should provide the technical equipments such as cashier machine and more computers to support the management work.
On the Job Training program is important program for D-III English students. From the writer experience, On the Job Training gives opportunity to apply her knowledge and learnt how to be good worker. This program also improves the writer communication skill because she can interact with many people and give the best service to the hotel guest. The most important for the writer is she can get valuable work experience that she can use in the future.
