Careers are a choice in everyone's life, so every individual must have a clear and mature career plan. Planning for the future to pursue goals that fit your goals and desires is very important in career planning. Parents with high expectations are good for children because children consider their parents' expectations as motivation and support in making career choices to get the right choice. However, if parents 'expectations are not good enough for them, some might think that parents' expectations are a pressure on them. This will have a bad effect on adolescents because the more they don't care about their parents, the more confusion and uncertainty in making a career choice. From these problems researchers are interested in examining the relationship between parental expectations and career selection.
This research approach is quantitative by using product moment data analysis techniques, while sampling uses accidental sampling techniques. The subjects in this study were students of SMAN X in Malang with a total sample of 53 subjects. Measuring instruments for collecting data use a career selection scale and a parent's expectations scale. The career selection scale consists of 29 items (with reliability = 0, 911) and the parent's expectation scale consists of 34 items (with reliability = 0.892).
