Griya Konservasi Ex Situ Anggrek di Poncokusumo Kabupaten Malang (CD + Cetak)
Indonesia is one of the tropical countries that has the most types of orchids in the world. According to Government Regulation no. 7 of 1999 concerning "Preservation of Plants and Animals", of the 4,000-5,000 species of orchids in Indonesia, 29 species of orchids are threatened with extinction.
To protect endangered orchid species from unsafe or threatened habitats, community education and conservation efforts are needed ex situ. Ex situ conservation is conservation that protects endangered plant and animal species by taking from unsafe or threatened habitats with protected human protection.
In Indonesia there are 3 centers for ex situ conservation facilities, each representing the West, Central and East regions. Especially in East Java, there is the Purwodadi Botanical Garden as an ex situ conservation facility that represents the central region.
The existence of the Griya Konservasi Ex Situ Anggrek Poncokusumo as a support facility for the center of the central conservation area which facilitates the cultivation of orchids for the purpose of plant breeding. Conservation of Griya Ex Situ Anggrek Poncokusumo is equipped with educational facilities for visitors with an exhibition space that covers the diversity of protected orchid species.
