Proses Pembuatan Cetakan Pasir Silika GS2 dengan Pengikat Semen Kelabu, Semen Putih, dan Gula Tetes pada Hasil Cor Besi Tuang Kelabu Mentel Gilingan Tebu (CD + Cetak)
The metal casting process is a product manufacturing technique where the metal is melted into the melting furnace and then poured into a molding cavity. Silica sand can be used as a basic material for making sand molds. The advantages of silica sand include: resistance to high temperatures, can be used repeatedly, has a finer (mesh) finer than mountain sand and river sand. Disadvantages of silica sand include: surfaces from poor casting results and require further processing such as machining. This study aims to determine the process of making GS 2 silica sand molds from sugar cane mill coat to the results of cast products, namely sugar cane mill coat. Before silica sand is used as a mantle material printing silica sand cane mill passes tests that include: water content, particle size test, and content test SiO2. The results of the water content test of GS 2 silica sand 1.5 - 4%, the particle size measurement of silica sand GS 2 20-30 AFS (American Foundry Society), and the test level of SiO2 of GS 2 silica sand 85%. After passing the test, the silica sand will be mixed with 1.57% gray cement binding, 0.63% white cement, 3.76% drops of sugar, 94.04% silica sand. Further tests include shear strength and compressive strength test results from the compressive and shear tests obtained 2200 grams / cm2 for compressive tests and 1500 grams / cm2 for shear tests.
