The cooling process is the process of capturing the energy of an object, so that the temperature will fall, if the phase of the object does not change. According to the second law of thermodynamics, the heat can be moved from a high temperature place where the low temperature, with the intermediary of objects, substances or tools near the objects to be cooled that the temperature is lower than the temperature we want, cooling technique is a science that discusses the method of maintaining a fixed condition at low temperatures. Air conditioning process is a process of air control to get the temperature and humidity that is hoped for the air condition of the room. Air conditioning systems use a steam compression cycle. In the cycle the refrigerant is compressed, then condensed to be liquid, then the pressure is lowered so that the fluid can evaporate.
As we know Indonesia is located in the tropics and bypassed the equator is known for its warm and humid weather where temperatures range from 20-30°C, when the weather can be in the middle of a temperature of 32-35°C. This condition can make the expected air temperature uncomfortable so that an air conditioning is required to reach the ideal temperature and humidity expected so that with air conditioning equipment it can be fulfilled. The purpose of this research is to know the performance of a cooling machine coeficient of performances that uses an R-134a refrigerant that is given an initial heating load pre-heat and re-heat with air speed 23.6 MPH, 26 MPH, 29 MPH, 32 MPH, 35MPH.
The results of the test, showing the air speed variation from 23.6 MPH to 35 MPH and pre-heat heating as well as reheating (re-heat), on pre-Heat 3 kW and re-heat 1 kW were obtained the highest and lowest Qair value on pre-heat 0 kW and re-heat 0kW. The high flow rate of the refrigerant mass causes the value of several variables to rise like the Wcompressor, Qcondenser and Qevaporator. Of the four tests are obtained by the value of coefficent of performance (COP) of 3.782 up to 4.375 which shows the performance value of the cooling machine is very good.
