Media Reference Facebook dalam Membantu Tugas Wartawan Mencari Berita di Kota (CD + Cetak)
This study discusses and examines Facebook media as a media for journalists' reference in finding sources of information in Malang. The development of information and communication technology is very rapid, making journalists must make a new innovation to maintain the existence of conventional media in terms of the speed of information dissemination to the public. This is what makes reporters to use Facebook as a source of news information in the scope of Malang City.
This study aims to find out how journalists in Malang use Facebook as a reference media as a source of information for making conventional media news. So that the delivery of information sourced from Facebook becomes one of the materials that will be processed by journalists fatherly turned into a conventional media news.
In this study using a qualitative descriptive method that is research that produces descriptive data in the form of a series of words according to the facts because it comes from informants and trusted sources who are experts in their fields. This research has the purpose of describing and analyzing Facebook media as a source of information for journalists in finding news in Malang. The process of collecting data is done by interviewing, observing, and studying the documentation. Research location in Malang City, East Java, Indonesia.
The results of this study revealed that journalists in Malang took advantage of posting on facebook media as a source of information to be made into conventional media news. Utilizing the facebook media through several stages to produce news in accordance with journalistic ethics. Journalists choose information from Facebook based on news value, then managing the information obtained must clarify the truth of the information obtained. In addition to the above, the subject of this research is the management of information sources. Use the management to produce news that meets journalistic ethics, and quality journalistic products so that it becomes news that is worthy to be published to the public.
