Trademark Registration Based on Good Faith Principles as Protection of Intellectual Property (CD + Cetak)
This final report discussed about trademark registration which is part of intellectual property protection. In Indonesia, trademark registration is not well understood by the public and the level of awareness of registering is deficient at only 7.25%. Internationally, the trademark can be registered with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and can be registered by the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DITJEN KI) if used in Indonesia. Due to the low level of awareness, this final report is very important to understand to increase the level of awareness of trademark registration. Related with trademark registration, one of basic requirements is to register based on good faith principles. It means registrant must register their trademark by a though of honesty without any negative aspect such as cheating other's trademark. If it is proven that there is bad faith due to not obeying good faith principles, the registration will be rejected. Besides being rejected, not understanding good faith principles can also result in disputes as happened in Indonesia, disputes regarding trademarks reach 292 disputes. Therefore, this paper is expected to provide information to the readers about how to register a trademark based on good faith principles as protection of intellectual property. More specifically, with this final report cases that have occurred can be prevented from happening again.
