A Descriptive Analytic of Historical Buildings Perservation in Surabaya and Its Architecture Acculturation (CD + Cetak)
Surabaya is one of the most historic cities in Indonesia, known for its Dutch Colonialism. Because of this, Surabaya has many heritage landmarks from the Dutch colonial era. For example, is The Old City, or ‘Kota Lama’. The Old City area is a witness to the history of Dutch Government in the Colonial era. Another example is East Java Governor's Office. This office is unique in its spatial and visual character, so it needs to be reviewed to find out the preservation direction so that the authenticity of the building is maintained. Until now the buildings built by the Dutch in the Colonial era are still preserved. The Surabaya City Government has a regulation through the Office of Tourism and Culture to preserve those building to become city landmarks and heritage. This report aims to evaluate cultural heritage regulations related to the protection of historic buildings and to test the government policies and conclude findings related to Conservation theory to see whether the government regulation building heritage be applied properly.
