The writing of this thesis discusses the role of the village government in resolving land rights disputes. The main issues discussed in this thesis are how the role of the village government in resolving land rights disputes that occur in the community and what obstacles are faced by the village government in the process of resolving land rights disputes. This research has a purpose and usefulness, both practical and theoretical uses so that we can know the role of the Village Government in resolving land disputes, the process of land dispute resolution by the Village Government. To solve the problems discussed in this thesis, the authors use the relevant problem approach method, namely sociological juridical. Sources of legal materials used consisted of primary legal materials, namely the Law, then secondary legal materials in the form of books and journals, as well as non-legal materials namely interviews, dialogues and observations.
Based on the research results, it is known that the Village Government plays an important role in resolving a land dispute that occurs in the community. The village head acts as a mediator and a witness in dispute resolution. The process of dispute resolution that can be taken is to file a complaint, present the parties to the dispute, collect data, mediate and read the verdict. The Village Government in resolving a dispute that occurs must be neutral without taking sides. After finding an agreement, then a written agreement is made on the outcome of the mediation agreement between the parties to the dispute and witnessed directly by the Village Head and witnesses there. In the process of resolving land rights disputes by the village government also has obstacles or obstacles in resolving land rights disputes caused by 2 factors, namely internal factors originating from the village government side and external factors originating from the disputing parties.
