The rise of illicit drug trafficking that continues to increase in the cool circulation of illicit trafficking continues to grow as a promising business. The police itself has formed an organization to handle narcotics crime cases. However, in the formation of this organization is not enough to make dealers afraid of doing business. Add to this the lack of public awareness to help fight the illicit trafficking and narcotics precursors, making the police have to work extra.
In this study the authors used the method of direct interviews with the Malang City Police Narcotics Investigation Unit to obtain true and accurate information about how the role of the police and what are the obstacles in tackling illicit drug trafficking in Malang.
Malang City Police Narcotics Investigation Unit on the problem of illicit trafficking in its jurisdiction in Malang by making three important efforts. Pre-emptive is done as early as possible so that initially the user does not reuse the narcotics. Preventive efforts are social control efforts by conducting raids on certain places and conducting socialization of the dangers of narcotics and also prohibiting the use of narcotics. While repressive efforts are acts of law enforcement through criminal investigations rooted in the aspect of legality.
