Hubungan Kecerdasan Emosi Dengan Kecemasan Menghadapai Masa Pensiun Pada Pegawai Negeri Sipil Pria (CD+Cetak)
To civil servants, the retirement day is often considered as a future threat that can cause anxiety. The presence of the anxiety in facing the retirement day is dominantly influenced by the emotional intelligence. Higher emotional intelligence can lead to a condition which is free from anxiety. On the contrary, lower emotional intelligence will result in anxiety within an individual. This research is, then, aimed at finding out the relation between the emotional intelligence and the anxiety in facing the retirement day that happens to the civil servants.
The population of the research covers all of the civil servants male. There are 138 people who are included in the population. The sample is taken the male workers with the following criteria hold the position as the civil servants, must be between 54-56 or are closed to the retirement day, hold the structural rate of III/A – IV/B to ensure that they have certain position in their devisions. The proposive sampling technique is used to get the samples. The sample that fit the criteria are 56 people. The method used to collect the data is Likert Scale emotional intelligence and civil servants male retirement anxiety, which are 57 items for emotional intelligence and ¬¬58 items retirement anxiety. The data is analyzed by using the analysis of product moment correlation. The result of the validity testing using Product moment of Pearson shows ¬¬ 8 items of emotional intelligence are failed and ¬49 items are valid with correlation coefficient moves from¬¬¬ 0,442 to 0,815 and 5% significance. Meanwhile, the retirement anxiety scale shows 10 items are failed and ¬48 items are valid with correlation coefficient moves from 0,323 to 0,716 and 5% significance. The result of the reliability testing using Alpha of Cronbach shows 0,976 of correlation coefficient for the emotional intelligence and 0,924 for the retirement anxiety, which means that the testing is reliable. The result of the data analysis using correlation of product moment shows r count = - 0,622 and r table = 0,266 in 5% of significance level if r count -0,622 > r table 0,266 the negative direction of the correlation. This suggests that there is a correlation of emotional intelligence with anxiety toward retirement with a negative correlation, which means if the higher emotional intelligence, the lower the retirement anxiety and vice versa if the lower emotional intelligence then the higher the anxiety facing retirement.
