Self-reliance is a person's ability to help itself. Independence required by a person to deal with life issues. One can not continue to depend on others. Independence must be taught to someone since the age of independence as early as possible to the well formed. Late childhood is a time when children are preparing to enter adolescence. Survival at the end of his childhood will help children to get into the next expansion. The learning process begins in a person's family, starting at birth through parents. Parents, particularly mothers have to organize the functions and role of household affairs. Mother and child communication is often used to describe the communication of parents and children. Development lead times for the role of a mother's influence. Mother who was once just to run their households, already have other roles as a work. Mothers who take care of the household and also work have limited time, energy, and mind in taking care of the household, especially raising children. Mothers who only take care of the household can devote time, energy, thinking just to take care of the household. The study was done to see the difference in child survival at late childhood and review of working mothers who do not work. This study uses self-developed scale aspects of the theory of self-reliance by Masrun. The scale consists of 106 items through the pilot phase, which is based on test validity aitem obtained 84 valid and 22 items that fall. Reliability test results of the question items on the survival scale measuring tools derived alpha between 0.6 and 0.8 until the test has a degree of reliability is when viewed from the rules of reliability according to JP Guilford. Results of the analisys showed that the average score of the child's independence at late childhood that their mother worked at 231.54 lower than the average score of the child's independence at late childhood that her mother was not working at 247.04. This suggests that a child's independence at late childhood - a child whose mother did not work higher than the mother worked.
