Building Up Profesionalism As A Local Guide At Jatim Park I

The Jatim Park I in Batu is the place where the writer did OJT for 2 months. Here the writer was assigned as a guide who did some jobs such as, giving more information about the usage of some education aids, telling story in Science centre at Jatim Park I, and helping the other crew to demonstrate education aids and repair it.
In doing his OJT, he has some internal and external problems. The internal problem is being nervous to encounter visitors because he didn’t have confidence to communicate with them. However, he could solve it by sharing with his captain.
For some external problems, he got inconvenient schedule and sometimes the schedule was changed without information. Second, the cleaning and maintaining facilities were not good. After all he got advice to solve it through intensive communication between the staff and the writer.
Finally, he realized that OJT is essential not only for D III English program Merdeka University Malang and their students but also for the Jatim Park I. Both sides can have mutual benefits which can improve their existences in the future. For the writer, he got significant improvement on his job skills (fluent communicating with the visitors, demonstrating, maintaining) and working knowledge (the working rules and ethics, concerning with personality characteristic, attitude, and performance). Based on his working experience at Jatim Park I, he has significant suggestion for improve qualities D III English program and Jatim Park I.
