Hubungan tingkat demokratis pimpinan dengan tingkat motivasi intrinsik pada karyawan PT.Banggai Surya Perkasa Surabaya (CD)+(cetak)
The objective of the research was to analyze the relationship between democratic leadership style and the intrinsic motivation level of employees.
Democratic leadership style is usually characterized by wide delegation of authority, open discussion on decision making, effective teamwork, clear information on duties and responsibilities given to all employees. Intrinsic motivation is motivation within individual self which refer to the enthusiasm to work and to like the job
Democratic leader style will help or advise group members to solve any problem and share suggestion which eventually inspire the emergence of perceived competence and competence valuation within individual. The hypotheses of this research is there is a significant relationship between the democratic leadership style and intrinsic motivation of employee.
The research population is employees of PT. Banggai Surya Perkasa as much as 160 employees and the research sample is 160 employees. The sampling method was accidental random sampling The data collection utilised Likert scale questionnaire on both variables. Validity of the scale was examined using Karl Pearson Product Moment coefficient correlation. Seventy six items of the intrinsic motivation out 80 items were declared valid and seventy three items of democratic leader out 80 items were declared valid. The reliability of the scales was examined using Alpha (Cronbach) and obtained Alpha coefficient equal to 0,9693 for intrinsic motivation variable. The reliability coefficient of democratic leadership variable was equal to 0,9614.
The data collected in this research was analyzed using the Karl Pearson Product Moment correlation. The result indicates that there is a positive relationship between democratic leadership with the intrinsic motivation which significant under .10 level of confidence (r= 0,378; sig=0,000).
