Perbedaan penyesuaian diri ditinjau dari peran seks pada mahasiswa semester II Universitas Merdeka Malang (CD)+(cetak)
Human being is not capable to live alone therefore human have to adjust with others and its environment to avoid pressures, which may disturb the functions of his life. One factor influencing individual social adjustment is learning to play the sex role agreed by the social group. The purpose of this research is to identify if there is an adjustment difference perceived from the sex role on second semester students of Merdeka University Malang and to see the level of adjustment of each sex roles. Self-adjustment is the individual effort to change according to environmental situation and to modify the environment according to his purpose. Attunement of sex role is a certain nature and behavior, in man or woman, expressing the masculinity and femininity or combination of the two. The aspects of self-adjustment are appearance, self-adjustment to various groups, social attitude, and personal satisfaction. The aspects of sex roles are femininity, masculinity, androgyny, and undifferentiated. The hypothesis of this research is (1) there is a difference in self-adjustment perceived from sex role at second semester student of Merdeka University Malang and (2) the androgyny sex role has a higher level of self adjustment compared to other sex roles (feminine, masculine, and undifferentiated).The population of the research is as much as 1145 subjects and the sample derived for this research is 115 subjects, which is equal to 10% of population, with random sampling method. The data collection for the research used self-adjustment scale and BSRI (Bem Sex Role Inventory) to identify the sex role. The data was analyzed statistically using variance analysis (F-test).The result of instrument trial shows item’s validity ranged from 0,3133 to 0,6783, with reliability coefficient of 0,9533 for the self-adjustment scale and item’s validity ranged from 0,3136 to 0,6281 with reliability coefficient of 0,9213 for sex role inventory. The analysis result shows a significant self-adjustment difference among sex roles (F hit > F tab, Sig < 0.05), androgynous students have a slightly better self-adjustment ( = 265,2) compared to other sex roles, feminine sex role ( = 243,76), masculine sex role ( = 250.00), and undifferentiated sex role ( = 255.06). Conclusion of this research there is different of self-adjustment among sex roles and there are different levels of self-adjustment among sex roles. The androgyny sex role has higher self-adjustment compare to other sex roles (feminine, masculine, and undifferentiated).
