The inportance of teamwork among the employees in Bank Tatim Pare (CD)
In particular, this study examined the teamwork among the employees in PT. Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Sub-branch Pare-Kediri. This study based upon an analysis of the writer during his On the Job training Program (OJT) in that bank for the last two months.
This study used Descriptive Qualitative analysis method. The reason was the writer would like to discribe how the teamwork among the employees in Bank Jatim Pare.
Bank Jatim Pare is one of PT.Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur sub-branch offices. It has a small office located at Jl. Panglima Sudirman, Pare-Kediri. This bank has a good reputation in Pare city, it has proven by the large number of its customers.
After observing the situation in Bank Jatim sub-branch office Pare, the writer has realized that teamwork in Bank Jatim sub-branch office Pare is still low. The causes of this problem can be explained as follows; firstly, some employees are often late in giving service so it makes customers feel bored. Secondly, there are some employees who have broken the rule about working time so that it can be found that some employees leave their work before the break time, although there are some customers still waiting. Third, there are some employees who waste their time by playing game on their computer in the working time. In fact, the computer is the only equipment to give service to the customers.
There are some bad effects for Bank Jatim sub-branch office Pare caused by this problem. First, the satisfaction of Bank Jatim sub-branch office Pare cannot be fulfilled. Second, number of customers of Bank Jatim sub-branch office Pare will decrease. Third, works condition of Bank Jatim sub-branch office Pare will not perform the professionalism of working. The last, Bank Jatim sub-branch office will lose their good reputation as one of the best sub-branch officesTeamwork is very important to be applied in the companies, especially in Bank Jatim sub-branch office Pare where there are some of unprofessional employees. By bringing teamwork in their work, probably it can improve professionalism in their work. In fact, teamwork is the basic of professionalism beside discipline. Wilkes C. Gene (2004: 16) in his book “Jesus on Leadership” said that team’s power is not only in recent modern business world, but also have long histories, as it illustrated in a holy bible, he explained that:
1. Team is involved more of people, so it has more resources, ideas, and more energy.
2. Team maximizes the potential of a leader and minimizes his / her weakness, strength and weakness are more exposed from the individualist.
3. Team gives double perspective how to fulfil reach of requirement and reach of target, so it will create some alternatives for each situation. Individual insight is not as wide and deep as team insight when facing some problems.
4. Team is share the honour of victory and shares the disappointment of failure. This is motivated the real humble and the authentic of communicated sense. Individualist may enjoy honourable and accept their disappointment by them selves, but this is motivated arrogance and sometimes self-sense of loser.
5. Team makes the leader responsible with the target. Individualists who do not have relationship with anyone can change their target with no need to responsible to the other.
6. Team can do more than Individual.
John C. Maxwell (2004: 11) states that although we proud with solo achievement, actually there are no one individualist people who can reach their goal with a significance value.
Finally, The writer hopes that this final report will become a reference for Bank Jatim sub-branch office to improve team work in order to have discipline and good work ethic for its employees so the service to the customers gets satisfaction.
