Recently, it needs tool – human electronical tool to do somethin, especially for them who suffers physical defect such as blind people. Blind people will be difficult if using general tool because they cannot see and rely on their hearing. So, in this writing, it will explain about designing and making compass with sound output facility so that blind people can use it.
Desining and making compass with this sound output uses Modul Kompas Robot Philip KMZ5, taht is suffciently sensitive to detect magnetic field direction. This Modul Kompas Robot is in the form of digital voltage, signal produced by the compass, is that PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) which pulse width and pulse positive varied beginning from 1ms (00) to 36,99ms (359,90). Data form digital sensory conversion is in the form of 16 bits that is produced in Timer to processor above become input data to be processed within microcontroller. And for sound, it uses EEPROM W27C020, R2R series and Dac (Digital to Analog Converter). IC is recorded by using PCM format, minimum 11 KB/s. The result obtained is the sound can be turned back with sound load that is exactly same with its original. Sound output from this compass is divided into 6 directions beginning from north, northeast, east, southeast, south, west, and southwest direction.
