Analisis faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi mahasiswa dlm pemilihan profesi akuntan publik & non akuntan publik studi pada Mhs UNMER Mlg (CD)
This study compares accounting students who choose a career as public accountant (Group I) to those students who did not (Group II). Five factor comprising 20 questions concerning career choice factors were addressed. The five factor are intrinsic values of job, flexibility, job market opportunities, perceived benefit of being a public accountnt, and perceived cost of being a public accountant.
Employing a survey 150 accounting students taking Accounting Theory, Auditing I and Auditing II couse at Merdeka University Malang, t-test were used to compare responses of students selecting the public accountant and those selecting non-public accountant career. Discriminant analysis was used to assess the ability of five factors to distinguish between these two groups.
The results indicate that based on the absolute score, those selecting public accountant are more concerned with the above five factor. However, based on the independent sample t-test, there are only two questions resulted scores that were statistically significant : (1) have a nice dynamic situation (2) Job market oppotunities. These findings were supported by the discriminant anaysis.
